Jeremy Leavell, MA, LPC Associate | Supervised by Kevin Fall, PhD, LPC-S
You remember a time when feeling stuck, unmotivated, and unsure of yourself wasn't the "norm," but those days feel like a distant memory. If you're ready to do the work necessary to change this..
You've come to the right place.
I'm Jeremy Leavell, and I help deep thinkers and sensitive souls just like you.. the ones who have it in them to find a rich sense of meaning and purpose in life, but just need some quality support to get there.
I help my clients reduce shame and develop more pride in who they are and in what they want in life by equipping them with the tools they need to better understand themselves and other people.
Many of today's treatments for people with perfectionism and self-doubt are administered as rigid protocols, from mental health professionals who lack the capacity to deeply engage with their clients in a real, genuine relationship. Instead, such sessions tend to feel rather cold and clinical, with the therapist seeming more concerned with whether the client is making specific behavioral changes, while discounting one of the most significant factors in the practice of psychotherapy - THE RELATIONSHIP.
For some clients, a cold, clinical approach like that may be helpful at first (or even preferred!), but to so many others who are hungry for something deeper, a blank canvas approach to therapy makes it feel like the therapist is an emotionally distant "expert" who's sitting across the room, stoically evaluating them on how well they're doing at this whole therapy thing (or even this whole "life" thing).. sadly and often, clients in this situation wind up feeling that their therapist is unable to truly understand the complexity of their inner and outer lived experiences.. something I believe to be incredibly unfortunate, especially for clients with trauma histories.
I know that your circumstances are unique and complex, so I strive to meet you exactly where you are at and prioritize getting to know you at a deep level so that I can truly be your ally and help you in ways that are actually going to make a big difference in your life.
Being a therapist is not merely a job to me. I approach it with intention, respect, and reverence. I prioritize taking care of myself in deeply nourishing ways so that I can show up with a calm presence, ready to engage with you relationally.
I began my own therapeutic journey back in 2013, and have continued it ever since - regularly engaging in individual therapy and group therapy as a client myself. I've had the good fortune to work with and learn from some of the best depth-oriented therapists in Austin, Tx.
As a fellow human with you on this planet, I am not immune to the realities of modern existence. And so I continue to work on my own baggage, relational traumas, emotional wounds, and ongoing life stresses, while building and keeping up with nourishing self-care routines. I also regularly seek consultation with my therapist mentors and engage in continuing education in attachment-based, trauma-informed therapy approaches in order to provide you with the best care possible.
My priority as your therapist is to show up for you in ways that are completely focused on helping you make the changes that YOU feel are right for YOU, at YOUR pace, when YOU are ready to make those changes. Please reach out if you think we might make a good fit.
I obtained my Masters in Professional Counseling from Texas State University. LPC Associate License #89029.
In December of 2023, I completed a year-long, intensive training with Candyce Ossefort-Russell at DEEP Center for Growth. The DEEP way of doing therapy is my primary orientation as a therapist. Read more about the DEEP approach here.
I grew up in Houston, Texas and have called Austin my home since 2008. I majored in philosophy for my undergraduate degree and worked various service-industry jobs before pursuing my masters degree to become a psychotherapist. I'm also a musician and certified yoga instructor.
I truly love the work that I get to do with each of my clients. From a young age, I knew that I wanted to become a therapist. I've always processed things very deeply and I cherish getting to know my clients, in all their complexities. As a highly sensitive person, I also have a very large and compassionate container for the painful suffering that so often accompanies the human experience.
When I'm not seeing clients, I like to enjoy my downtime by hiking around in nature, climbing trees, going for long-distance runs, playing games or live music with friends, and lounging around at home with my partner and our two cats.
